Introduction Creation of Evolution The Biblical account of the Creation is one of the most widely known stories. The tale has been taught in church schools for generations. Yet only a few really know the true account as it is presented in the Book of Genesis. The lack of knowledge of the truth in Genesis has led to confusion and uncertainty when regarding the validity of the Scriptural rendition of the origin of life---especially when secular scientists present convincing evidence which seems to contradict Biblical records. Many have now come to regard the Genesis story as a fable, an ancient folklore, or a fabrication full of religious symbolism. This thesis, 'Creation of Evolution', is an attempt to present the Genesis account of the origin of life as a scientifically valid explanation. After studying the Genesis verse by verse, it should become evident that God's Word is accurate, and presents a valid and factual explanation for the creation of all things, including mankind. I pray 'Creation of Evolution' will be enlightening, and will bless your spirit as well as stimulate your intellect. ******* Chapter 1: I Am Creator In 1859, Charles Darwin published 'On the Origin of Species'. This was followed by 'The Decent of Man' in 1871, another theoretical book by Darwin. In these two publications, along with numerous other books and writings, Charles Darwin popularized the Theory of Evolution as an explanation for life on Earth. As scientific knowledge increased (especially during the 20th Century), there has been a continual move toward accepting the evolutionary process as the only explanation for the existence of all physical matter. This theory also seems to dismiss the notion that the existence of the Universe can be attributed in any way to gods, intelligent designers, or God. The account given in the Book of Genesis in the Holy Bible, has been declared to be an embellishment, inaccurate, or a merely an ancient fable. There remains, however, a great number of those who believe in an Intelligent Designer in some form. These beliefs differ in many ways, and range from faith in God, to cosmic forces, gods and goddesses. Some have even suggested that the intelligent designer is actually extra terrestrial beings which seeded the Earth with the genetics for life. Even though many differ in opinions as to how life began, it is important to note how many do not accept the evolutionary account of life. Recently, there has been a new branch of science which has emerged to combat evolution. Creationism has gained popularity---whether it be positive or negative---since the mid-1970's. Although debates rage regarding how much it can be recognized as science, Creationism strives to use scientific methods to study topics, and to form theories based on scientific research. Creationist use experiments, observations, and comparisons in their research, and have concluded that all existence can be attributed to the creative work of God. They have taken a scientific approach to the literal translation of the Genesis account of creation. While it is true that Creationism and Evolutionism take opposite positions regarding the explanation for existence, the question must be asked: Does Evolution mean no Creation, and does Creation mean no Evolution? The stringent stances both take seem to negate any opportunity to reach an acceptable settlement. Adherents of both beliefs stand firm in their opinions that their respective viewpoint is the correct view, while all opposing views are regarded as wrong and misguided. Rarely---if ever---will Evolution scientists and Creation scientists convene and combine research for collective, cooperative study. On the contrary, both sides dogmatically reject the research, theories and conclusions of the other side. Would it be possible for the sciences of both Creation and Evolution to work together for a common goal? Is it possible for scientists from Creationism and Evolutionism to communicate openly and candidly about their different stances, and the positions in which they stand in agreement? Author Gaymon Bennett believes so, and explains this process as what he calls hypothetical consonance: Hypothetical consonance begins with the assumption that science and religion are trying to make sense of a single---even if complex or multi-faceted---reality. Working from this assumption hypothetical consonance asks a question: Is it reasonable to assume that, if science and religion are making claims about the same reality, those claims, at points, will reinforce, critique, or illuminate one another? The shorthand version goes like this: Science and religion both pursue truth about the same reality; though their methods and routes may vary, shouldn't we expect that, in the end, they would be valuable traveling companions? (a)
To be able to consider the possibility of scientific discoveries being in harmony with Scriptural accounts of the Creation, it is imperative to comprehend the meanings of Biblical explanations of the creation process, as well as the Creator. In the same manner the Scriptures are regarded as spiritually and philosophically relevant, so also can they be regarded as scientifically relevant. Scientific research should be compared to Scripture---not just selected research, but all scientific studies and discoveries. Likewise, those in the religious community should welcome all scientific presentations in order to compare them to Scriptures, and formulate accurate interpretations of Biblical accounts and meanings. This first step in this process it to obtain an understanding of God; who He is, His nature, and His works. While it true that the full nature of God cannot be fully comprehended by human understanding, the God of Judaism and Christianity is not an unknowable God, as is the case for deities of most of the other world religions. Not only does He desire to be known, but God has made Himself known through His Word. God is a spirit. (John 4:24) This encompasses much more than just being a ghostly entity. God is all things, and all things are within God. He was, is, and will be. God existed, exists, and will always exist. He was not created, but was the Creator. God is because He is; He exists because he exists, as He explained to Moses when He proclaimed, "I AM that I AM" (Exodus 3:14) In the Jewish commentary, it was interpreted that God told Moses, 'I am called according to my actions.' (b) Simply put, and yet profound in meaning, God is, because He was, and He is to come. (Revelation 4:8) In Christian theology, God is described as the Holy Trinity. This is not a proclamation that there are three gods, but that there are three facets of the same God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three facets---or workings---of God further present His true nature. Each of these aspects is accessible and detailed throughout the Scriptures. The many actions, works and purposes of God are included in Biblical accounts, and have been preserved for study and reflection. Regarding the Trinity, author Pat Robertson makes the following clarification: All three Persons of the Godhead are eternal. The Father exists and has existed forever. With Him always existed His expression, the Son. Always the Father love the Son, and the Son loved and served the Father. From that relationship of love arose the Spirit of God, who is eternal and has existed forever. There was, therefore, not a time when there was only the Father, then later the Son, and still later the Spirit. They all three have existed from before there was anything that could begin three distinct Persons all functioning as One. There are trinities in nature. Light can be divided into three primary colors; yet light is one. A prism will reveal the individual colors separately that are unique yet unified. (c)
The first aspect of God is found within the process of His being. He exists, and all things exist within Him. God the Father is the Creator, the idea or thought of what is and what will be. God desires, or wills, something to be, and it come into being. The process of all things are within God: The creation process, the process of life, the process of existence. God is a part of all He created, whether it exists physically, spiritually, within the third dimension, fourth dimension, or any other dimension beyond human comprehension. And all creation---from the entirety of the vast Universe to the single-celled amoebae---is within God. God the Father is the originator of all things that exist. The thoughts and ideas of God are manifested in works or actions. God the Father originates ideas and desires, and then the creating process is put into motion. God speaks, and what He says occurs. The spoken word, the action of His ideas, is the offspring of the Father---the Son of God. The Son is the mind of God, or logos. This is translated as 'The Word': In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)
The speaking of God becomes His offspring, which is the doing of what God has spoken to happen. The actual creation process was the manifestation of the Son of God. The Son has always been with the Father, thus is God. The work of creating is the Son, who was the action of the Father's idea. The mind of God in action by His Word, is the Son of God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:3)
It is interesting to note the various meanings of the word 'logos': Logos [3056; 477] account, cause, communication, do, doctrine, fame, intent matter, mouth, preaching, question, reason, reckon, report, rumor, saying, show, speech, talk, thing, tidings, treatise, utterance, word, work (d)
Descriptions such as do, show, and work demonstrate that the Word of God, as described in John 1:1, is as much the action of the spoken word as it is the word itself. The offspring is the progeny of God's thoughts, or mind. This offspring, the Son of God, was imparted into human form. This human form was born of a virgin, and became a man who was fully God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John1:14)
The Son of God, Jesus, who was born of man by divine impartment, is the Messiah for mankind. His ministry was to teach mankind the true nature of God's Kingdom, which was founded on God's authority and love. The earthly work of Jesus illustrated what man can be when totally submitted to the will of God the Father. Jesus also fulfilled the purpose of becoming the sacrifice for the sins of mankind. Jesus allowed Himself to be crucified in order to take sin and death upon Himself. He accepted death, because that was the only adequate payment for sin. Then, through His resurrection, He defeated sin, death and the grave, reconciled mankind back to God, and became the way to eternal life in the Father. The very nature of God is the Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit. This is the connecting force between God and all things. The Holy Spirit can be described as the consciousness of God. It is His awareness. The Spirit of God surrounds all existence, penetrates all, and keeps all in contact. The Holy Spirit is the 'doing power', which is the force of action. The Father originates the thought, the Son is the spoken action of that thought, and the Holy Ghost is the process of action. He keeps mankind connected to God. The Holy Spirit has many functions, and empowers men to do the work of God. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to keep mankind connected to the mind of God, which is manifested through Jesus Christ. Coincidentally, the aspect of the Holy Spirit is the essence of God that mankind feels. The breath of God, which is life unto man, is a function of the Holy Spirit. All men have a connection to God through His breath of life. In most religions, it is this aspect of God that religious philosophers alluded to when attempting to explain their gods. The descriptions of their gods range from a cosmic force to spirit-beings. Many examples can be found of how these religions present their view of god while ignoring the fullness of God Himself. Hindus see ultimate Reality, Brahman, as being an impersonal oneness that is beyond all distinctions, including personal and moral distinctions. Since Hindus also consider Brahman to be an impersonal force of existence, the universe is seen by most Hindus as being continuous with and extended from the Being of Brahman. (e) The goal of the variety of New Age methods and beliefs is to come to the realization of the central truth of the New Age, which is that everything is fundamentally divine because everything flows from the divine Oneness that is the existential Substance---the essential Reality---that is beneath all things two key words describe the New Age movement's concept of God: monism and pantheism. Monism is the belief that God is One in the sense of being a oneness without duality or differentiation. There is no separation within God. It is 'beyond' all such distinctions, including distinctions between persons and between good and evil. The New Age movement characterizes this oneness as a force or an energy---the Ultimate Reality of the New Age is not a lifeless energy. Instead, it is a Cosmic Mind or Consciousness, often called the universal Self. (f)
The Holy Spirit is the manifestation of the power of God. It is His Spirit which conveys His mind, thoughts, authority, and will. The Holy Ghost dwells within the souls of those who receive Him, and directs them on their spiritual journeys. He communicates God's will to men, and acts as communicator on the behalf of mankind:
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27) In order to better understand the creation process, it is imperative to remember that God is a spiritual entity. All things created were done so within the realm of God, or within His spiritual realm. Everything, from the divine to the physical, from invisible to visible, was first created within God, and must viewed from His perspectivethe spiritual perspective. The study of creation must be done with the realization that God intended for His creation to be in perfect harmony with Himself. Whether it was to be of the heavenly realm or the earthly realm, the created elements were to be within God and were to be praise unto Him.
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. (Psalm 19:1)
In the first chapter of the first book of the Bible, it states that God created the heavens and the earth in the beginning. The beginning refers to the 'beginning of God's work' as it relates to human perception. This beginning occurs before the universe has taken shape. God's work begins before time has begun. God will introduce time continuum into His creation, but time did not exist before the beginning. It must be remembered that God is not bound by time, nor is He regulated by time: Time is of God, and is a product within God. The entirety of time---from beginning to end, Alpha and Omega (Revelation 1:8, Revelation 22:13)---is viewed as one unit by God. He sees the past, present, and future in one instant. It is true that God moves within time to deal with mankind because mankind has been relegated to time continuum, but God Himself is not governed by time. God is not in time; time is in God. By this, it can be reasoned that God does not age, for age is a product of the progression of time. The eternal state is a realm which is unrelated to the progression of time. Eternity is simply the lack of time continuum. At physical death, the soul departs the realm of time and enters the state of eternity. For the soul, time ceases and becomes a non-factor. The eternal state is existence with no time progression. Heaven is the eternal state of existing within God, while Hell is the eternal state of existing outside of God. Regarding 'heaven and the earth', it must be realized that God's creation process begins within the spiritual realm. God created a place for the spirit realm; the heavens. God also created a realm for the physical; the earth. With a narrow point of view, many believe that this refers to Heaven and planet Earth. However, earth in the context of this particular verse did not refer to a planet. This becomes evident in the next verse of Genesis:
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. (Genesis 1:2)
From this passage, it must be recognized that earth was formless, void, and a part of the darkness that was over and amid the deep. By this explanation of the earth, it can be interpreted that 'earth' represents the entire physical realm. If the passage referred to the planet Earth, the Scripture would not have stated that it was formless, but only that it was void. Planetary bodies have forms: Spheres. Planet Earth is no exception, for it too is a spherical body. It is obvious that Genesis 1:2 is describing a time before Earth was formed into the planet-shape. The Hebrew word used in this particular passage is 'tohuw', which is translated as formlessness, emptiness, nothingness, without form, among other definitions. Clearly this verse speaks to something beyond a formed planet. 'Waters' is another interesting element to the Genesis account of creation. The Hebrew word for waters is 'mayim', which includes the definition, transitory things. This meaning seems to fit best when coupled with the Genesis use of 'deep'. The definitions for deep (Hebrew word, tahowm) include depths, abyss, and the grave. With these definitions, it becomes apparent that the Spirit, or consciousness, of God hovered over a temporary element which is described as waters. These waters floated on the abyss of nothingness, known as the deep. The temporary elements were the building blocks for all physical matter in the universe. The 'deep' is known to scientists and astrologers as the depths of space. It is important to keep in mind that, although this part of the creation process includes the physical aspects, the creation process at this point is still one with spiritual applications. The process of physical creation occurs primarily in accordance to the spiritual realm. Recognizing the relationship between the spiritual and physical realms will enable a greater understanding of the continuing creation process. Returning to Genesis 1:1, it must be realized that all physical matter has already been created by God. The building blocks for the stars, planets, moons, nebulas, and all other matter had already been created. All building blocks for life had been fashioned within the building blocks for all matter. These building blocks---the particles, ingredients and pieces used to make the stars, planets, nebulas, etc...---were a part of the mass described as 'waters'. These were created, as is the case for spiritual creations, before the establishment of the progression of time. Those elements which were created in the spiritual realm include the angelic ranks. Angels are basically the process of work. God speaks, the spoken action becomes the offspring (Son), and the power of performing the spoken in the Holy Spirit. The actual performance of duties which accomplishes the spoken action is of the angelic spheres. Angels are the created helpers, or messengers. The word angel is a Greek word which means 'messenger': aggelos. These entities were created with the other creations within the spiritual and physical realms:
Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights. Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts. Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens. Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created. (Psalm 148:1-5) The angels were probably a direct creation of the Son for the purpose of carrying out the actual work process of the creation. Duties regarding the creation process were delegated to angelic beings, who were known by their actual process. The prime example would be Lucifer, an angel that God created for specific purposes:
Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. (Ezekiel 28:13-15)
From this passage it can be realized that Lucifer was created to be the praise unto God. Lucifer is believed by many scholars to be the actual 'Worship Leader' for God's realm, and was endowed with the ability to make worship in musical form. The name Lucifer indicates that he was a part of the creation process that included luminous entities. It is quite possible that God used Lucifer as in intricate part of the creation process concerning the physical realms. Lucifer may have been a force of controlled chaos and controlled destruction which was used to create new things. This process would have been similar to the scientific theory of a Big Bang: Elements collide violently, but that process resulted in the emergence of physical matter. If Lucifer had been used in such a way, it may offer further explanation as to why his domain includes the physical realm:
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. (Ephesians 2:2-3) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12)
When Lucifer decided to usurp God's position, it was by the process of allowing his own purpose to become more important than God. Lucifer deemed his purpose as so important, that God could not work without it. And Lucifer felt that he, through his purpose, was so powerful that it could actually overtake the very authority of God. He was mistaken, as the Scriptures testify: And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Revelation 12:7-9)
Lucifer attempted to highjack the praise that he had been designed to bring unto God. He wanted the praise for himself, due to the fact that he had been put in charge of it to begin with. He wanted his status to be equal with God, and to even achieve more importance than God. It was Lucifer's desire to be the praised, rather than to praise.
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. (Isaiah 14:12-14)
It must be noted that angels, including Lucifer, are given the ability to make decisions to follow God's orders or to refuse to follow God's orders. This, however, is not free will. God has given mankind free will exclusively. Men can chose between good and evil throughout their lifetimes. Those who have been choosing evil can repent and choose to begin to follow God. Angels, however, have one choice: Do good or become evil. There is no continual choice because the angels, being a part of the spiritual realm, are not within a time continuum. They reside in the eternal state, so the choice they make is instantaneously an eternal choice. Because of their status in the eternal realm, angels and angelic beings are not afforded 'time' to change their mind or repent. Once they have made a choice, it automatically becomes their eternal state.
...the devil...was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44) ...for the devil sinneth from the beginning. (I John 3:8) ******* Chapter 1 Endnote Information Sheet a.
